Gear

Here I will shortly describe what you need to get started.

To be honest, you don’t really need fancy clothes or gatgets at the very beggining, but do invest in a pair of…

1. Shoes

When you go to a sports store, ask help from the staff. I have worked in a sports store, and I have seen people buying wrong shoes for them. Good running shoes fit well, support your arch (do you have low or high arch?), are light and comfortable. Invest in shoes with good cushioning, because if you’re a newbie, your knees and ankles might not like all the running!

I know that pintrest boards, and fashion fitness bloggers post photos of their fancy Nike Frees, but that type of running shoe might be wrong for you!

Also keep in mind where are you running. On a road? On a running track? Pavement? Forest? Different running shoes serve different surface. It’s all about the grip, as if you’re running in the forest, you dont want them to be slippery, right?

Also remember to tell the staff at the store the running distance you’re aiming to do. How often you are going to run, and how many km/miles. Most shoes cover x amount of distance before the cushioning gets bad. Cheap running shoes are usually ok for a 5k runs few times a week, but if you love your knees, invest in a pair of good shoes.

2. If you are a lady, you’ll need a sportsbra.

Yet again, depending on your cupsize, try to find a bra that fits well, doesnt itch, supports your breasts and absorbs the sweat. My cupsize is small, so I am fine with the most basic sportsbra you can find, but I know ladies with larger breasts need proper support, as you dont want your boobies bouncing all over the place. I have learned from my friend with big breasts, that when she goes to a sports shop and tells the staff that she needs bra to support her breasts while horse riding, the staff will show the best options (and my friend doesnt even do horse riding!).

I will update later on other items you might need. Like jackets, tops, sunnies ect.
